As of late afternoon on Monday, all remaining patients in the Medical Special Needs Shelter at the Carl Maddox Field House and the Federal Medical Station at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center have been discharged. LSU EOC Continues to Support Louisiana
Sunday, 9/2/12, 1:45 p.m.
Although Hurricane Isaac has passed through Louisiana and the university has returned to normal operations, the LSU Emergency Operations Center remains open in support of state and federal operations on campus. Fortunately, LSU sustained minimal damage from Isaac. However, various parts of the city and state were not so fortunate. In support of the residents of those areas, the Carl Maddox Field House has been serving as a Medical Special Needs Shelter for the state, and the Pete Maravich Assembly Center has been serving as a Federal Medical Station. As part of LSU’s mission as Louisiana’s flagship university to serve the citizens of the state, the LSU EOC will remain active until all patients have been safely discharged from both the Field House and the PMAC.
LSU EOC Remains Active
Saturday, 9/1/12, 8:15 a.m.
The LSU Emergency Operations Center remains open around the clock to support the campus as it continues to recover from Hurricane Isaac. The campus has been reopened and cleaned up, and fortunately, damage was minimal. However, the EOC will remain active until all patients have been safely discharged from the Carl Maddox Field House and the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The Field House has been serving as a Medical Special Needs Shelter for the state, and the PMAC has been serving as a Federal Medical Station. Service to the people of the state is part of LSU’s mission as Louisiana’s flagship university, and the EOC is proud to assist with that mission during times of crisis.

2012 Fall Academic Calendar
Thursday, 8/30/12, 2:24 p.m.
The LSU family hopes this communication finds you safe and making progress toward recovery. Isaac left its mark on the LSU campus, but the damage was minimal. We are making rapid progress towards restoring function and form.
Classes will resume on Friday, August 31. Unfortunately we have lost three days of the fall 2012 semester, and that will require some adjustment. Cancellation of Fall Break will allow faculty and students to make up the loss of two class days. A Saturday will be designated to make up the loss of the third class day. That Saturday will be determined in the near future.
Several academic deadlines have been rescheduled on the Academic Calendar as follows:
Closure for Hurricane Isaac August 28-30 (Tue-Thu)
Classes resume, 7:30 a.m. August 31 (Fri)
Final date for dropping courses without receiving a grade of "W," 4:30 p.m., deadline September 4 (Tue)
Final date for adding courses for credit and making section changes 4:30 p.m., deadline September 5 (Wed)
Final date for adding thesis and dissertation research; final date for “degree only” registration September 5 (Wed)
Final date for submitting to Graduate School applications for master’s and doctoral degrees to be awarded at fall commencement September 7 (Fri)
Final date for departments to recommend to Graduate School appointment of examining committees (requests for final examinations) for degrees to be awarded at fall commencement September 7 (Fri)
Fall Holiday CANCELLED October 18-19 (Thu-Fri)
The remainder of the academic calendar is unchanged. Beginning at 4:00 p.m., today, students will be able to recommence adding and dropping courses via myLSU.
We recognize that there is no perfect solution. This is the best approach for meeting the mission of LSU as well as the goals of our faculty and students. The implementation of these changes will require patience and cooperation by all.
