What is LSU doing to reach out to students displaced by Hurricane Katrina?

! LSU is rapidly approaching its physical and human capacity to accept new displaced students. There is no on-campus housing available for additional students, and off-campus housing is very difficult to find.

Universities offering assistance to displaced university students

GRADUATE ADMISSIONS

  • LSU is allowing those students stranded by Hurricane Katrina to apply for the current fall semester. In order to admit these students in time, all graduate student applicants must apply in person at 114 David Boyd Hall on the LSU campus. A valid college ID from a hurricane-affected university is required. Subject to the availability of classroom space, the Graduate School will be accepting applications from Tuesday, September 6, to Friday, September 9 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • LSU is waiving all application and late fees for all students affected.

COURSE REGISTRATION AND SCHEDULING

HOUSING

  • LSU no longer has on campus housing available for displaced students.
  • Students in the LSU Residence Hall Association are making care packages for new transfer students. The packages will include toothbrushes, soap, and other toiletries.
  • The LSU Office of Residential Life is doubling the staff size of residential halls with high concentrations of transfer students to ensure all of their needs are met.
