Bret Lott’s debut issue as editor of The
Southern Review includes James Lee Burke’s “Why
Bugsy Siegel Was a Friend of Mine.” This wonderful story has
since appeared in Best New Stories of the South and is
forthcoming in the 2007 Pushcart Prize: Best of the Small Presses
and Best American Mystery Stories. Because only a handful
of copies have not been purchased and the demand for them is high,
the winter 2005 issue of The Southern Review is now a collector’s
item.
With a $50 donation to Friends of The
Southern Review—an association made up of those who understand
and appreciate the importance of literature and the arts and who
desire to help through their own contributions to continue The
Southern Review’s role as one of the most valuable and
vital journals in America—you will become a member of this
association at the Ally level and receive the option to purchase
the unique winter 2005 volume for only $25 (covers the cost of the
issue as well as shipping). As an Ally, your name will appear in
four consecutive issues of The Southern Review.
