Editor-in-Chief
- Is responsible for the general operations, staffing and content for the Reveille’s print and digital versions and for the Gumbo yearbook’s print and digital versions.
- Oversees use and maintenance of equipment.
- Oversees campus news coverage in times of crisis unless specifically released from that responsibility by the adviser.
- Meets or exceeds deadlines.
- Develops annual budget within Student Media guidelines.
- Keeps adviser informed of personnel and technical changes and meets with adviser on a regular schedule.
- Works cooperatively with other media in the department.
- Follows university guidelines for hiring and terminating student employees and volunteers
- Works toward quality content and a greater connectedness with students.
- Insists on ethical and professional behavior.
- Maintains a professional atmosphere in the workplace.
Managing Editor, content
- Follows editor in the chain of command and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of The Reveille.
- Executes the policies of the editor.
- Authorized to make on-the-spot decisions for all departments.
- Supervises the news, sports, opinion and production sections.
- Works with adviser to conduct comprehensive training sessions for student staff and attends all training sessions.
- Attends advisory board meetings in the absence of the editor.
Managing Editor, external media
- Follows editor in the chain of command and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of The Reveille.
- Executes the policies of the editor.
- Authorized to make on-the-spot decisions for all departments.
- Supervises photo, video/online and radio sections plus coordinating with Gumbo to share content.
- Assists other editors and other staff members in planning coverage appropriate for the Web site, including multimedia coverage.
- Works with adviser to conduct comprehensive training sessions for student staff and attends all training sessions.
- Attends advisory board meetings in the absence of the editor.
- Post completed newspaper online at the end of daily production cycle as well as multimedia elements.
- Perform updates and corrections when necessary.
Managing editor, production
- Edits all news copy for grammar, AP style, Reveille style, readability and accuracy.
- Lays out pages and supervises other designer in page layout.
- Writes headlines for all news stories and cutlines for all photographs.
- Sets policy and supervises day-to-day operations of the copy editing staff.
- Hires and, in consultation with editor, has authority over dismissal of copy editing staff.
- Sets work schedules and performance standards for copy editing staff, in consultation with managing editors and editor.
- Attends all training sessions.
News editor
- Assists managing editor in supervising the news staff, including editing stories and coaching staff in reporting and writing.
- Enforces or extends deadlines in consultation with managing editors, editor and associate managing editor.
- Works with other editors on long-term story planning.
- Assists the managing editor in weekly meetings with news staff at which stories are assigned.
- Attends all training sessions.
Deputy news editor
- Assists news editor in supervising the news staff, including editing stories and coaching staff in reporting and writing.
- Enforces or extends deadlines in consultation with news editor, managing editors, editor and associate managing editor.
- Works with other editors on long-term story planning.
- Assists the news editor in weekly meetings with news staff at which stories are assigned.
- Attends all training sessions.

- Hires and, in consultation with editor, has authority over the dismissal of entertainment staff.
- Assigns entertainment stories and sets deadlines for entertainment writers within the constraints of the overall newspaper production schedule.

Sports editor
- Sets policy and supervises day-to-day operations of the sports section.
- Hires and, in consultation with editor, has authority over the dismissal of sports staff.
- Assigns sports stories and sets deadlines for sports writers within the constraints of the overall newspaper production schedule.
- Designs and produces the sports section.
- Supervises the sports staff.

Assistant Sports editor
- Assists the sports editor in the supervision of sports staff.
- Edits sports stories and produces sports pages as directed by the sports editor.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the sports editor.

Production Editor
- Edits all news copy for grammar, AP style, Reveille style, readability and accuracy.

- Cooperates with other editorial board members in producing staff editorials.
- Writes columns as required by editor.
- Attends all training sessions.
Photo editor
- Supervises photographer staff, including preparing photos and coaching on techniques.
- Hires and has authority, along with editor, over dismissal of photography staff.
- Takes photos as required.
- Schedules photography staff work hours.
- Holds weekly photographer meetings.
- Enforces deadlines and photo policies.
- Reports to managing editors and editor.
- Attends all training sessions.
- Assists photo editor in supervising photography staff.
- Takes photos as needed.
- Performs other duties as directed by the photo editor, managing editors or editor.
- Attends all training sessions.
Videographers/Online Editors
- Maintains and updates Reveille Online edition and Reveille Web site on each night of production.
- Oversees and manages the day-to-day operations of the multimedia staff (producing video), including coaching filming and editing.
- Coordinates with other section staffs to pair video with print content
- Supervises the “segment” or “branded” videos
- Updates Web site to reflect breaking news developments as directed by the editor or managing editors.
- Assists other editors and other staff members in planning coverage appropriate for the Web site, including multimedia coverage.
- Post completed newspaper online at the end of daily production cycle as well as multimedia elements.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the editor or managing editors.
- Reports to editor and managing editors.
- Attends all training sessions.
Reveille Radio Director
- Manage daily radio news broadcasts on KLSU and create radio packages as needed.

Staff Writer (news)
- Covers beats and breaking news
- Writes at least four articles per week
- Meets deadlines and performance standards as set by the editor.
- Attends all training sessions.
Chief Sports Writer
- Covers beats and breaking news.
- Meets deadlines and performance standards set by the editor.
- Writes at least four articles per week
- Serves in an advisory role for staff writers and contributing writers.
- Responsible for sharing skills and experience with other staff writers.
- Assume other responsibilities regarding the news staff as directed by the editor, managing editors or assistant sports editor.
- Attends all training sessions.
Sports writer
- Covers beats and breaking news.
- Meets deadlines and performance standards set by the editor.
- Writes at least four articles per week
- Assume other responsibilities regarding the sports staff as directed by the editor, managing editors or assistant sports editor.
- Attends all training sessions.
Staff photographer
- Covers story assignments generated by writers as assigned by photo editor.
- Takes wild photos as news space requires.
- Attends all training sessions.
- Prepares photos for publication to the satisfaction of editors.
- Writes complete cutlines
Contributing/stringer writer (news, sports, entertainment)
- Writes news and feature stories as assigned by editors.
- Edits and corrects stories until they meet publication standard set by editors.

Entertainment Writer
- Writes news and feature stories as assigned by editors.

Contributing/stringer photographer
- Covers story assignments and takes wild photos as assigned by photo editor or assistant photo editor.
- Prepares photos for publication to the satisfaction of editors.
Opinion Columnist
- Produces columns as assigned by editors.
- Edits and corrects columns until they meet publication standard set by editors.
Videographer
- Gather news stories on audio or video for use on the newspaper’s Web site.
- Perform other duties as assigned by editors.
- Primarily produce videos to accompany online stories
Segment / Branded Videographer
- Produce a video weekly in pre-designated topic
- Perform other duties as assigned by editors.
Copy editor/Designer
- Edits all news copy for grammar, AP style, Reveille style, readability and accuracy.
- Writes headlines for all news stories and cutlines for all photographs.
- Lays out pages.
- Meets deadlines set by chief copy editor, managing editors and editor.
- Attends all training sessions.
- Responsible for designing and laying out assigned pages
- Formats pages to meet to design standards set by the lead designer
- Responsible for meeting deadline requirements
Graphic artist
- Create news graphics as assigned by editors.
- Assist in developing ideas and designs for news graphics.
- Performs other duties as assigned by editors.
Radio announcer
- Researches, writes and produces news stories for radio news broadcast.
- Conducts radio news broadcasts live on KLSU.
- Meets deadlines set by the radio director, managing editors and editor
- Attends all training sessions.
Radio reporter
- Researches, writes and produces news stories for radio news broadcast.
- Produces pre-recorded new packages for air on KLSU and Reveille Web site
- Meets deadlines set by the radio director, managing editors and editor
