How to Apply for a State Job in Louisiana:
1. Get a Civil Service Pre-employment Application (Form SF10). This form may be downloaded or you canpick one up at the Baton Rouge Testing Office on the first floor of the Agriculture Building, 5825 Florida Boulevard.
2. Complete the Application. Be sure to read the instructions provided carefully before completing the application, and provide as much detail as possible when filling out the application. Also, make sure you sign and date your application before you submit it.
3. Take your Civil Service Test in Advance. When State employers post vacancies to Job Search, they typically require that applicants have their Civil Service scores in advance. To find out what test are required for each job, visit the One-Stop Job Information page.
It is also important to note the Grading Method for each job position, since some jobs do not require a written test. The Grading Method will list whether you need an eligibility rating or written exam.
For Eligibility Ratings, drop your application off at our testing office in Baton Rouge, or mail it to the Department of Civil Service, Post Office Box 94111, Capitol Station, Baton Rouge, LA, 70804-9111. You can also fax your application to our main office at (225) 342-2386.
For Written Exams, bring your application to one of the testing centers. Be sure to write the test SERIES NUMBER on your application before you go to test. It's usually next to the Grading Method in Test Finder pages. Please see the test dates schedule for the dates and locations that testing is available at our Testing Centers around the state.
4. Check the postings on the Job Search website. You must follow the instructions in each job posting to apply.
