Komma & Allam Sports Tournament - 2008
Hey Guys!!! Its that time of the
year when you can close your books, give your brain some rest
and take a break from the ongoing hectic semester. It is time
for the sporting events to get underway and this time around, we
have decided to have 5 sports in all.
They are Cricket, Badminton,
Racquetball, Table Tennis and Lawn Tennis.
CRICKET
 The
ISA would like start off by thanking you all for the spectacular
turnout for the Cricket Tournament.
We have a total
of 7 teams this time around and the format has been modified
somewhat.
There will now
be 2 groups. Group A contains 4 teams and Group B contains 3 teams.
The members of each group will play each other in a round robin
format, the top 2 teams from each group qualifying for the semi
finals. In the event that 2 teams are tied on points at the round
robin stage, head to head record will be used to determine who
progresses. In the event that 3 teams are tied on points, net run
rate will be used. This is calculated by subtracting the
opposition’s inning run rate from the run rate of the team in
question for each match.
Out of the teams reaching the
semi finals, winner of Group A plays Group B Runners up. Winner of
Group B play Runners Up Group A. The winners of these 2 matches
contest the final. In addition, we can arrange a 3rd-4th
place playoff should you request one. In addition, we wanted to
notify you that a team gets 2 points for a win,1 for a tie and 0 for
a loss. Matches will be 10 overs long, 8 players a side with 2 subs
allowed. One bowler in a side can bowl a max of 3 overs. The rest
can bowl a max of 2. Aside from that, most other rules remain the
same and will be clarified before the start of each game.
