HFH LSU

Our goal is to end poverty housing in the greater Baton Rouge area and to raise awareness of the issues of poverty housing in the world. You do not have to have any experience building houses, or even using tools for that matter. As long as you can hold a paint brush or a hammer, we will teach you the rest.

This organization is a great way to make a big school like LSU a much smaller place and to get a sense of fulfillment, knowing that you have made one of the greatest impacts in a person's life, helping them build their very own home.

HFH LSU has 4 Main Functions:

  1. The campus chapter will educate the chapter members, campus and local community about the work and mission of Habitat for Humanity.

  2. The campus chapter will advocate on behalf of people in need of decent shelter and for an end to poverty housing and homelessness.

  3. The campus chapter will build and rehabilitate houses in partnership with Habitat for Humanity affiliates and homeowners.

  4. The campus chapter will raise funds for the work of Habitat for Humanity.

HFH Greater Baton Rouge

Mission Statement

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge is a Christian-based ministry that builds and renovates houses in partnership with the community. We provide opportunities for families in need to purchase their own homes, build community and improve their lives.

Habitat is not a give-away problem. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, each homeowner family invests at least 255 hours of their own labor (“sweat equity”) into the building of their home, the homes of others, and other HFHGBR activities.
