Mission Statement
The Engineering Council of LSU is an organization that represents and serves every student in the College
of Engineering. We are affiliated with all of the governing bodies of the College of Engineering liaisons
between the students and college officials, corporations, and the community. Because there are over
1,900 students in the College of Engineering, we need your help to reach every one of them.

History
The Engineering Student Council of LSU has been around for approximately 20 years. It is tough to tell
exactly when the organization came into existence, but its presence can be seen sporadically throughout
the past 20 years or so. For example, few people know that it was this Council that originally came up with
the idea to implement a Student Technology Fee. It started as an idea to raise money to better the College
of Engineering's computers, labs, and other technology. When the idea was presented to the Dean of the
College of Engineering, it was warmly greeted. The Dean thought so much of it that he took it to the
Chancellor. Much politics, a little editing, and a few years later, the LSU Student Tech Fee was born.
Ideas such as these have been knocked around the Council since its birth. Implementation has always
depended on involvement and funding. No matter what the situation, Engineering Council will continue to
be the backbone of the Engineering student body and make itself known through its accomplishments and
events.
