The Hundred Thousand Project is a ten year effort to document the causes and effects of Hurricane Katrina. In the first days after the hurricane, over 80 videotaped interviews with displaced persons were collected by a team of students and faculty at LSU, working in parking lots and shelters. We continued work in the New Orleans areas, focusing on the areas surrounding the levee breaches at the Industrial, London Ave, and 17th St. Canal and then expanded to other areas of disaster and recovery. The project will follow individuals, organizations, legal actions, and relief efforts in Louisiana for a ten year period. As of May 2007 we have approximately 460 hours of video material.
