Ian Brown

Photo: Ian BrownIan is a native New Orleanian, but has been at LSU for undergrad and now law school where he is in his third and final year. He spent a semester abroad in Spain which sparked his current interest in land use policy. While traveling around European countries, like Holland, he became intrigued with the differences in how people dealt with and lived in their environment compared to people back in South Louisiana. With a new interest in policy he returned to LSU, changed his major to Political Science and later ended up at LSU Law. After taking a property law course, Ian became more serious about pursuing land use law and urban planning as a career focus. He is currently exploring specific interests in the areas of sustainable development, economic development, and transportation. During law school, he has had internships at the Center for Planning Excellence (CPEX), the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, the Baton Rouge City Court, and the East Baton Rouge Redevelopment Authority. After law school, Ian would like to get a Master’s in Urban Planning.

Outside of thinking about land use, Ian loves live music, craft beer, biking, and traveling.
