Math and Science Majors
Secondary Education Concentration

Two careers with one degree

Make the Most of Your Math or Science Degree by Majoring in your Content Area with a Secondary Education Concentration

Mathematics and Science majors can earn secondary education certification while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics. There are no additional hours required for this concentration. You will use your elective hours for the education courses. GeauxTeach allows you to graduate with the distinction of being a certified and highly qualified Math or Science teacher thus giving you the opportunity to choose immediate employment, including the high demand field of teaching, or graduate/professional school. The program is designed to assist you in gaining knowledge and comfort in a classroom as you move through the courses.

There are multiple entry points throughout the freshman and sophomore years. Up to $800 in scholarships are available to students who take the one-hour Step One and Step Two classes and make at least a “C.” This allows students to test-drive the program before making a commitment. Register for the Step One course now – Biol 2010, Chem 2010, Math 2010 or Phys 2010.

For more information about the education concentration, please select your major under the content area to the left or contact Sharon Besson at sbesson@lsu.edu.
