Education Courses

1. EDCI 2001, Education Schooling and Society-  Introduction to contemporary educational issues, especially as these are situated historically, culturally, socially, and politically; topics include history, theory, and politics of education especially as related to gender, race, class, and technology.
2. EDCI 3001, Student Development and Diversity- Differences among secondary students (Grades 7-12) associated with their development levels, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, genders, learning abilities, and special needs.
3. EDCI 3002, Classroom Culture- Learning Processes of middle and high school students in social learning environment of the classroom, with attention to individual and group motivation, social interactions, integration of technology, and classroom management.
4. EDCI 4003, Curriculum and Pedagogy in Secondary Disciplines- Applying instructional approaches in particular subject areas for middle and high school students.
5. EDCI 4004, Critical Issues in Secondary School Content Area Teaching - Critical Issues in the nature of knowledge and inquiry specific school subjects.
6. EDCI 4005, Student Teaching in Grades 6-12- All day, all semester student teaching experiences including observation, participation, and a minimum of 180 clock hours of actual teaching under supervision of an assigned public school mentor teacher.
