Additional Shrimper Training Sessions Scheduled
Posted: 5/12/05

The LSU AgCenter and the Louisiana Sea Grant program recently completed a series of 10 training workshops across the state for shrimp producers who qualified for cash payments under the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program.

Now it’s offering more training sessions to shrimp producers who may not have been able to attend one of those workshops. The workshops are required for producers to become fully qualified for the financial assistance provided by the TAA program. Producers who applied with the Farm Service Agency by the April 11, 2005 deadline and were subsequently approved are eligible for the training.

If an eligible producer still needs to attend training, he or she should contact one of the following agents to schedule a workshop:

Training will be available only for producers who applied and were approved by FSA. Producers who did not apply or were not approved will have opportunities to take training next year if and when the TAA program is re-certified.
