Scholars have access to world-class research programs led by experienced and well-funded faculty researchers. Scholars begin by learning basic techniques, experimental design, or the nature of research questions with a designated faculty mentor and the mentor’s research group. The initial foray into research then leads to individually-crafted research projects. Many Science Honors scholars have gone on to additional research opportunities through National Science Foundation funded Research Experiences for Undergraduates during summer months. Scholars are also encouraged to study abroad for a summer, a semester or a full academic year while at LSU. They are also urged to give back to the university and the surrounding community through outreach and service activities.
