BATON ROUGE – Due to Hurricane Gustav, LSU will remain closed through Wednesday, Sept. 3.
The LSU Child Care Center, the LSU Laboratory School, the Paul M. Hebert Law Center and the LSU Agricultural Center Baton Rouge offices will also be closed. LSU AgCenter research stations and extension offices off-campus are to follow the procedures of their local parish governments.
LSU officials will continue to monitor the storm, and any further decisions on closing or reopening campus will be made accordingly. These decisions will be announced through the news media, broadcast e-mail and the LSU Web site at www.lsu.edu.
All classes, public events and related activities at LSU are suspended on Wednesday and all offices and departments, except those previously designated as required for essential operations, will be closed as well. For their safety and security, faculty and staff are being asked not to report for work unless they have been previously designated as essential in emergency situations. Employees should check with their supervisors to determine if they are classified as essential personnel.
Residential Life facilities, including all residence halls, campus apartments and family and graduate housing, will remain open. Once again, LSU is asking that students who remain on campus take all necessary precautions and remain indoors as the storm makes landfall. The 459 Commons Dining Hall will be open for continuous service from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Wednesday. All other campus dining facilities will be closed on those days.
Students, faculty and staff are urged to monitor local media for current information.
LSU’s Web site will be continually updated with the latest information, and LSU’s emergency hotline number, 1-800-516-6444 or 578-INFO (4636), will also be kept up-to-date.
