Human Sciences & Education Residential College | LSU Residential Life

Human Sciences & Education

The College of  Human Sciences & Education Residential College (HSERC) is sponsored by the College of Human Sciences & Education (CHSE) and housed in the beautiful Cypress Hall.

The community offers an educational and social community for the broad spectrum of majors within the College of Human Sciences & Education, including tomorrow's researchers, social workers, counselors, teachers and principals, librarians, archivists, physical and human movement scientists, doctors, occupational and physical therapists, physician assistants, dentists, athletic trainers, sports administrators, higher education professionals, and human resource professionals.

In addition to being a part of the on campus community and Cypress Hall community, students in the Human Sciences & Education Residential College also benefit from these unique opportunities provided in this living-learning community:

  • Live and take classes with the same group of peers (sometimes right in their res hall), creating a smaller network within the larger LSU campus
  • Have priority course scheduling
  • Network with faculty members and college administrators
  • Access to in-community tutoring, faculty during on-site office hours, and an academic advisor on-site as well as one-on-one mentoring to adjust to college life both socially and educationally
  • Learn about the various majors offered within the senior college and explore different career opportunities within each major offered
  • Find other students who share a common interest in helping others
  • Experience learning both inside and outside the classroom
  • Attend programs and demonstrations lead by CHSE faculty members
