Room Changes Spring 2018

Ready to change rooms or buildings? Room changes are going on now!

Room Changes

If you have a vacant space in your room or apartment:

  • Please visit your Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) Tuesday, January 23, 2018, between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to discuss your options.
  • If the other space in your room or apartment is not occupied, you may request to keep your room as “private” by paying 1.5 x rate of the room. This guarantees another student will not be assigned to that vacant space.
  • If you do not want to pay the additional private rate, you will need to fill out the appropriate form with your RLC and keep one side clear of belongings in case another student gets assigned to the room.
  • That vacant space could be assigned to a student at any time throughout the semester.

How to change rooms within your current residence hall or apartment community:

  • This process will take place on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the front desk of your community.
If two students intend to “swap” assignments within a building, both students must be present at the desk to “swap.” Please have your LSU ID with you.
  • You must complete your move by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. Failure to complete your room change within this timeframe may result in being charged for both spaces.
  • Residential Life must approve all room changes.
  • Residential college participants may be limited in options for moving to other buildings because of class scheduling and programming for each residential college.

How to change to a different residence hall or apartment community:

  • Come by the Department of Residential Life office in Grace King Hall, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday-Thursday, January 31-February 1, to request a building change.
  • Please remember only upperclassmen can live in the apartments.
  • If we have an open double available for you on campus, you can request to be moved to that space and pay the private rate (1.5 x rate of the room).
  • You must present your student ID when you request a change.
  • Moves must be completed by Sunday, February 4, 2018. Failure to complete your room change within this timeframe may result in being charged for both spaces.
  • You must present your student ID when you request a change.
  • We cannot guarantee there will be rooms available with multiple spaces for roommates to move together, but will try to accommodate these requests as long as space is available.
  • Residential college participants may be limited in options for moving to other buildings because of class scheduling and programming for each residential college.

Other Reminders

Contract Renewal Happening Now

You can reserve your space in Nicholson Gateway Apartments now in myLSU. Come tour in the Union M-F 10am-4pm, or on Saturday from 10am-1pm. If you want to live that ECA or WCA life, you’ll select your apartment the week of Feb. 5.

Room Cancellations

You signed an academic-year contract for your space on campus. If you are considering canceling your room, make sure to review the rent penalties and come speak with our staff in Grace King Hall before canceling. It is important that you understand rent penalties prior to entering into any other off-campus living agreements.  Having a lease with an off-campus location does not exempt you from rent penalties.

Fire Drills Continue This Week and Next Week

Fire drills will be conducted within all on-campus residence halls and apartments this week and next week. These drills will begin at 5:00 p.m. each day. See previous emails for details about your community and expectations of you during these drills.

Maintenance Issue with Your Room?

To report a problem in your room, submit a work order in the housing portal via myLSU.

To report a problem in a public space in your community, go to your front desk and have the desk assistant submit a work order.

To get assistance with WiFi, Internet, or Cable TV in your room, or to report a community lab is out of printer ink, complete this form to contact the LSU Res Life IT Help Desk.

Concerned About Yourself or Someone Else?

LSU Cares is a university initiative dedicated to the well-being of students and promotion of a community that cares about each of its members. Submit a concern, or talk to your in-hall professional RLC.
