The Reilly Center recently hosted the 2007 Breaux Symposium
to establish benchmarks for
coverage of contemporary issues for the public to use during
the 2008 election cycle. The panel of media professionals
examined the pressing policy issues on which the public
deserves to be informed:
-
how the media can
effectively deliver that information;
-
the diversity of sources
needed;
-
how to adapt to shifting
media habits;
-
the role of race and gender
and the increased ethnicity of voters
Our experts considered the
curious as well as the sublime in order to reach our outcome
- what the public needs to know to make well informed
decisions and how the media can ensure they get the
information.
To the right is a synopsis of
the symposium courtesy of our students who blogged during
the event. Please check back often for updates and
outcomes.
