For those hungry for competition, your needs shall finally be sated for a new intramural season is finally here.
March 9 -11 sees the revival of flag football, this time with teams of four, and the beginning of a tennis and racquetball tournament.
Registration is from March 9 – 11, so don’t get caught on the sidelines while everyone else is fighting for the top spot.
The spring season of flag football brings teams of four competing for a more intimate and strategic game.
It also brings a tournament for both tennis and racquetball. These can be played either as singles, doubles or even mixed doubles. The games are played in a pool which sets up a single elimination tournament. So if you’ve been looking to get back on a court but missing a partner to lob with, here is your chance.
Below is all the relevant information needed registering for any of these intramural sports. Most important thing to know for now, though, is registration is from March 9 – 11 at the Guest Services Desk (open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.).
The nuts and bolts of flag football registration: Teams are required to bring in their registration form, team roster, and payment to the Guest Services Desk in the Student Recreation Center. Team rosters Must Include a legal, full name, and signature for each participant. Incomplete registration forms will not be accepted. Teams will be randomly placed into three team pools. Pool play will begin on Sunday, March 15, no earlier than 1 p.m. and finishing no later than 5 p.m. The top team(s) from each pool advance to a single elimination bracket scheduled to begin on Sunday, March 22. This tournament will only be played on Sunday afternoons between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. There is no captain’s meeting. Instead, all teams will be notified of their schedule by email.
The nuts and bolts of tennis and racquetball registration: All matches will be scheduled by the participants. All participants in a pool will receive the contact info for their opponents and given a deadline to complete their matches. Cost is $5 per participant ($10 for a doubles team).
