SRC Locker Room Renovation Overview. At LSU UREC, our mission is to help UREC members lead happy, healthy lifestyles in and outside of our facility. In our continued dedication to this mission, we would like to take this opportunity to update you on our current renovation project.
Due to damage sustained from Hurricane Gustav, the locker room is slated for a renovation, to include the replacement of all lockers and aesthetic upgrades.
- The project will begin on Thursday, November 19, 2009 and end January 1, 2010.
- During this time, patrons will not have access to the men’s or women’s locker room, including showers, restrooms, and saunas. However, the pool will remain open throughout the project. For area specific details, please see below.
- Pool Access
- The pool will be accessible through the Training and Development room (Room #173), located in front of the Women’s locker room.
- All members must be dressed in appropriate attire, wearing shirt and shoes, while in the facility.
- Portable Showers
- To accommodate UREC patrons who need to shower prior to work or class, portable showers will be available from November 30-December 18 from 6:30am-5:30pm (Monday-Friday only; no weekend usage).
- Portable showers will be located outside, directly off the pool deck.
- You may exit through the pool doors to access the showers, but will have to enter through the UREC SRC Main Entrance with a valid ID to reenter the facility.
- Restrooms
- Patrons will be able to change in any one of our six gender specific restrooms. Restrooms are located across from the weight room, on the second floor next to the Studios, and behind the Healthy Lifestyle Suite.
- Locker Plan Members
- All lockers must be cleared on or before November 18. Please remove all contents and return the lock to the Equipment Desk.
- Lockers that have not been cleared are subject to a $10 service fee as outlined in the locker room policy.
- Annual Locker Plans
Due to the impending construction, all lockers must be cleared on or before Wednesday, November 18, 2009. You are required to remove all locker contents and return the issued lock to Guest Services. Failure to clear the locker by close of business on November 18 will result in UREC staff clearing your locker and assessment of a $10 service fee. All contents left in the locker will become the property of LSU University Recreation and will subsequently be donated to charity if not claimed from the UREC Equipment Desk within 30 days. As a reminder, those members with an annual locker plan, at the time of the renovation, will be granted an additional 2 months onto the end of their current annual term. In addition, annual locker plan members will maintain the same locker and combination. Beginning, Saturday, January 2, 2010, the locker room will reopen and you may access your locker accordingly. An annual locker plan is established as one calendar year (365 days) from the date it was rented. In addition, if you are interested in aligning your UREC membership and locker plan anniversary date, please contact Belinda Lee at belee@lsu.edu. Locker plans can be purchased at any UREC SRC Guest Service location or by calling UREC Guest Services at 225.578.8601. Payments can be made by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, or payroll deduct if applicable.
- Semester Locker Plans
Due to the impending construction, all lockers must be cleared on or before Wednesday, November 18, 2009. You are required to remove all locker contents and return the issued lock to Guest Services. Failure to clear the locker by close of business on November 18, will result in UREC staff clearing your locker and assessment of a $10 service fee. Locker Room renovation scheduled for November 19 through January 1.
In September 2008, the effects of Hurricane Gustav caused the Student Recreation Complex to be without electricity for 4 days. During this time, humidity levels in the facility increased and rust began to form on the lockers in the locker rooms, thus creating the need to replace all lockers during the upcoming renovation project.
UREC patrons will NOT have access to the men’s or women’s locker rooms, including the showers, restrooms, and saunas, while the locker rooms are under construction from November 19, 2009 through January 1, 2010. The locker rooms are scheduled to reopen on January 2, 2010.
Due to the shortened locker plan term, fall semester locker plans will be sold for $30 (a 25% discount off the regular semester cost). Those members with an annual locker plan, at the time of the closure, will be granted an additional 2 months onto the end of their current annual term.
