Group Swim Lessons
for children ages four to twelve

Give your child confidence in the pool whether just learning to swim or developing his/her swim skills.   A brief description is provided below to assist when choosing the level appropriate for your child.  Maximum of six children per instructor. 

Attention Tiger’s DEN Parents:
Swim lessons are conveniently scheduled during camp hours.  A Tiger’s DEN counselor will assist your child to and from their lesson each day.

Choose a level that fits your child’s ability.  Both beginner and intermediate levels available for each time slot.  *See learning objectives below

• Beginner:  Child has little to no water experience or swim instruction
• Intermediate:  Child has basic water experience
• The Intermediate level is not available for session one, 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.

REGISTRATION

No sessions currently available.

• Bring the completed registration form with payment to the Guest Service desk located in the UREC Student Recreation Center.
• You may fax in your registration form (225) 578-8489.  A UREC Guest Services Specialist will contact you for your credit card payment information.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Objectives to be learned in each level:

• Beginner
• enter and exit the pool w/ jump
• submerge face fully, 5 sec
• blow bubbles with face submerged
• front float
• supported back float
• short paddling distances
• front glide
• supported, face-down forward movement with arm/leg movement (progress to no support)
• supported, face-up forward movement with arm/leg movement (progress to no support)
• kicking development with kickboard support (1 pool length)
   
• Intermediate
• full length front crawl, with rotary breathing
• full length back crawl
• breaststroke & scissor kick, 50 yds
• object retrieval from 5 ft down
• tread water, 30 sec
• back float, 1 min
• survival float, 1 min
• side swim w/ scissor kick
