LSU offers
B. A. and B. S. degrees at the undergraduate level in
psychology. The B. A. degree is recommended if
you do not desire to pursue advanced training in psychology.
Our department recommends pursuit of the B. S. degree
if you aspire to graduate study in the field. Both the
B. A. and the B. S. program emphasize training in the
scientific methodology of psychology, a variety of specialty
areas within psychology, and the field's history.
The department has offerings in biological bases of
behavior, human development through the life span, industrial
psychology, cognitive science, abnormal behavior and
social psychology, to name a few. Psychology is
one of the most popular majors on the LSU campus and
the department is known for its excellence in teaching
and research. If you intend to pursue a career in psychology,
the department also offers many opportunities for independent
study. An honors program is available for upper
division students who wish to conduct their own research
projects.
