The B.
A. or B. S. degrees offer a number of career possibilities
in business, hospital, and government settings. Individuals
who are interested in a career in psychology may consider
graduate school. Career opportunities related directly
to the field expand greatly with the master's and Ph.D.
degrees.
- Clinical or counseling psychologists
are likely to work in private practice or in hospitals
or community agencies. They are likely to treat individuals
with emotional or adjustment problems.
- Industrial/Organizational psychologists
may work in corporations where they would be concerned
with hiring, training, and motivation in the work
force.
- School psychologists work in educational
settings and are concerned with children's learning,
social and emotional problems.
- Biological, cognitive, and developmental
psychologists are most likely to work in
settings where they conduct research on human behavior;
however, some career opportunities exist in business
or industrial settings for psychologists specializing
in those areas.
