Research Interests: My laboratory focuses on understanding how emotional and neurocognitive abnormalities contribute to social dysfunction in schizophrenia. Current projects include the following:
- Developing sophisticated measures of key negative symptoms using computerized analysis of natural speech.
- Clarifying how emotion abnormalities vary across the heterogeneous manifestations of schizophrenia.
- Disentangling the relative contributions of motivational and neuropsychological factors for understanding long-term social dysfunction in schizophrenia.
- Examining the relationship between negative symptoms and stress-reactivity in patients with schizophrenia and individuals at risk for developing the disorder.
Clinical Interests: Applying empirical supported treatments in "off label" situations, notably for individuals with pervasive mental illness, co-occurring substance abuse and personality pathology.
Hobbies: Playing jazz guitar, traveling/backpacking, crawfish boils, tailgating, catching monster Mahi.
