Our People: Faculty

PSYC/LAPIS is primarily supervised and staffed by Dr. Davis and his team; however, we have the benefit of collaborating with several nationally and internationally known affiliated faculty members.

Tom Davis III, Ph.D.—PSYC Founder  (LSU)

Dr. Davis’ focus is on the evidence-based assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders in children, adolescents, and adults (especially specific phobias).  Dr. Davis serves as co-director of child services at the Psychological Services Center along with Dr. Matson (who is Clinical Area Director & a licensed psychologist).

Julia Buckner, Ph.D.  (LSU)

Dr. Buckner’s focus is on understanding the nature and treatment of anxiety disorders with a particular interest in the relations between anxiety and addictive behaviors in adults.

Amie Grills-Taquechel, Ph.D.  (University of Houston)

Dr. Grills-Taquechel’s focus in on child anxiety and depression, peer victimization, and parent-child interactions.

Johnny L. Matson, Ph.D.  (LSU)

Dr. Matson’s focus is on the field of intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders using a combined behavioral/biological approach.  Dr. Matson is a licensed psychologist and serves as the supervising co-director of child services along with Dr. Davis.

Our People: Graduate Clinicians

PSYC/LAPIS day to day activities are primarily carried out by highly trained and talented doctoral students who are carefully selected and regularly supervised by Dr. Davis.

Whitney is a 5th year doctoral student in the Department of Psychology at LSU.  She is currently completing her clinical internship at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center.

Brittany is a 5th year doctoral student in the Department of Psychology at LSU.  She is currently completing her clinical internship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Melissa is a 6th year doctoral student in the Department of Psychology at LSU. 

Erin completed her internship at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center, and is currently a post-doctoral fellow in the Psychiatry Department of the LSU Health Sciences Center.

Our People: Alumni

Though PSYC/LAPIS has only existed for a relatively short time, we already have a growing list of impressive alumni who have emerged from Dr. Davis’ lab.

Marie completed her internship at Rush University Medical Center, and is currently an instructional assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at Illinois State University.

Kim completed her internship at  the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and is currently an assistant professor in the Psychology Department at the University of South Alabama. Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine.
