It may sound trivial, but did you know... |
College students drink more than any other group in society, even more than people their own age who do not attend college. |
The average college student spends more on alcohol than on books! Students spend over $5.5 billion a year on alcohol, which is much more that colleges spend on scholarships. |
Alcohol advertisers seek "brand loyalty." If they can get freshmen to prefer their product, they may have regular buyers for 30 years. it's not surprising that they offer special bargains for college students! |
| Yet
alcohol is associated with virtually every harm
known on campuses. Abusive drinking
is associated with almost all acts of violence, vandalism, date-rape,
and most accidents. Drinking and driving are the leading cause of death among college students. |
