Strategies to Quit Smoking

Attention smokers: Want to receive free strategies to help you quit smoking? You may be eligible if you are a smoker who smokes at least 8 cigarettes per day and are18-65 years old. Benefits include receiving free quit strategies, LSU psychology students can earn class credit for full participation, and non-LSU students can earn money for full participation ($15 for attending a baseline appointment and a chance to win $100 or $50 for completing a follow-up survey).

Study Looking at Motivation to Quit Smoking

LSU PSC in Baton Rouge - Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable death and disease in the United States, yet approximately 40 million Americans currently smoke cigarettes. Researchers at LSU are studying ways to increase motivation to quit smoking among adults. If you are a daily smoker, who smokes at least 10 cigarettes per day and are at least 18 years old, you may qualify for this study, regardless of whether you want to quit or not. Participants can earn $50 for completing the study session! If you are interested, please contact Melanie at lsusmokingstudy@gmail.com or call 225-266-8405. If you are not interested in participating in the study, but still wish to get assistance quitting smoking please call the LSU PSC (578-1494) to be referred to Dr. Copeland's Smoking Cessation clinic.
