It is the goal of the LSU Police Department and the university to keep the campus community informed of serious incidents. These timely warning messages are part of our commitment to provide campus-area crime information as outlined in the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or, Clery Act.
Timely warning messages will be posted when a significant criminal incident occurs within the Clery geography and represents a serious or continuing threat in those crimes in which a pattern of crime poses a serious or continuing threat to the community.
Decisions to disseminate a warning will be decided on a case-by-case basis in light of all the facts surrounding the crime and the danger to the campus community. The purpose of the warning is to aid in the prevention of similar crimes by alerting the community about the incident and providing information on the actions people can take to diminish their chances of becoming a victim.
