Online Communications Policy


1.0 Introduction

The LSU Web site strives to enable the university to attract prospective students; market the university; facilitate effective communication between students, faculty, staff, and researchers; and effectively guide all users to the resources they seek from LSU. A coordinated and consistent identity is essential to the success of LSU's Web site.

Web sites using the following criteria may be linked from the Official LSU Web site subject to periodic review. Developers are encouraged to review the guidelines and adhere to the specifications.

LSU activities related to the web and all forms of electronic communication must be consistent with LSU policies and procedures. All individuals involved in the development and/or maintenance of an LSU Web site are encouraged to familiarize themselves with all applicable web policies, standards, and guidelines.

1.1 Web Oversight

Communications & University Relations and Information Technology Services are charged with oversight of LSU.EDU. See the Applicable Policies section for detailed information about the Policy Statements granting oversight.

The University will support and maintain the Official LSU Web site. Units, schools, departments, and individuals may request links to their sites. In doing so, they must agree to abide by the following guidelines. LSU Web sites will be monitored for compliance. Failure to comply with policies, procedures, and requirements can result in the removal of pages, removal of links, or loss of access to systems as deemed necessary.
