Search for Graduate School DeanJob DescriptionLouisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College (LSU) invites on-campus applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the Graduate School. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice Chancellor & Provost, the Dean of the Graduate School will have responsibilities for leading the Graduate School. Goals for the future include those set by the National Flagship Agenda, in particular, the recruitment and retention of larger numbers of high quality, diverse, and well prepared graduate students. Required qualifications: Full Professor; substantial record of scholarship; direct experience with doctoral education. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Advises the Provost on tenure and promotion matters; improves, assesses, and analyzes the graduate program of the University, including the development of nationally prominent interdisciplinary graduate programs; oversees central administrative functions including graduate admissions, graduate records, and certification of degree requirements; supervises a staff charged with the administrative functions of the office; works closely with the Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development to support the development of research and scholarship initiatives campus-wide. The continued improvement in the quality of research and scholarship at LSU is a primary goal of the Graduate School. Oversees student support programs including graduate student travel and research. Graduate School Dean Search Committee Review of materials will begin immediately and continue until the appointment is made.
