Eric Monday named interim Vice Chancellor for Student Life and Academic Services

Acting Chancellor William L. Jenkins announced today that effective March 3, 2008, Dr. Neil Mathews will transition from Vice Chancellor for Student Life and Academic Services, or SLAS, to undertake some special assignments for the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost. Beginning June 30, Dr. Mathews will formally return to the faculty of the College of Education, where he previously served as dean before moving into the vice chancellor’s post.

Dr. Jenkins also announced that Eric Monday, currently Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administrative Services, will serve as interim Vice Chancellor for Student Life and Academic Services. Monday previously served in SLAS following his leadership as student body president here at LSU.

"I would like to thank Dr. Mathews for his many years of devoted leadership and service to the university. He has helped LSU make positive strides in enriching the lives of students beyond the classroom. We will continue to build on those positives as we move the university forward," Dr. Jenkins said.
