Introduction and Welcome

Dear Transfer Student,

Welcome to Louisiana State University. You will be joining thousands of transfer students who call LSU home, and we want to make your transition from your previous institution a pleasant one. We are aware of the hard work and preparation you have expended and hope your journey here will be enjoyable, exciting, and rewarding.

We recognize the difference between transfer students and incoming freshman and wish to take care of your unique needs. Transferring to a new school inevitably involves many changes and LSU wants to help you make this change as easy as possible. Orientation is required of all new transfer students, even if you have already spoken with an advisor at LSU.

This orientation program will give you an opportunity to learn about services at LSU, understand the process of credit evaluations, meet with advisors from your intended major field of study, obtain an ID card and a Personal Web Service (PAWS) Account, and if you have not done so, schedule classes.

Visit the Sessions, Schedules, and Costs page to see a list of Orientation dates. In order to attend this program, you must pre-register. Registration deadlines are listed on the Sessions, Schedules, and Costs page. On-site registration will be limited to extenuating circumstances only. Therefore, pre-registration is required. Please follow the instructions you received via email carefully. You will notice that some sections of the registration form have been automatically completed from the information currently on file in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. If any of this information is incorrect, contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at admissions@lsu.edu before submitting the Transfer Orientation application.

It is very important that you bring a copy of your: (1) transfer evaluation of credits, (2) catalog from your former university or college, and (3) any additional course credit information.

Remember, you must pre-register online to attend the transfer orientation session.

We look forward to meeting you and sharing your LSU Experience!

Sincerely,
Bonnie C. Alford, Director
Office of Orientation
