Earning advanced standing credit for college courses could significantly reduce your college costs. You will find yourself in extraordinary company—the students invited to the program rank in the top 15 percent of the nation's high school seniors.
- Earn college credit before you take a college course. Your performance on the advanced standing exams can help you receive credit for college courses based on your present knowledge and ability.
- Learn about campus life, programs, and services. The orientation sessions will introduce you to LSU's student life and will help prepare you for college.
- The LSU Spring Invitational Program will be your orientation program. If you attend the LSU Spring Invitational Program you will not need to attend any of the freshman orientation sessions scheduled in June and July.
- Schedule your classes with first priority. You will have the privilege of scheduling fall and/or summer courses prior to the normal freshman registration period. This means you have the first choice for freshman fall courses at the time you want. (Tuition payment, however, is not due until August.) To take advantage of priority scheduling, plan to remain on campus until 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
- Receive personal and academic advice. Your college career will be much different than high school. Throughout the LSU Spring Invitational Program, you will meet members of the campus community who will offer you advice on how to ease the transition, how to succeed, and how to make the most of your undergraduate years.
- Learn about LSU’s academic opportunities. Between testing sessions and orientation programs, you will be able to learn about degree programs, the Honors College, the Center for Freshman Year, and study abroad options. Even the recreational and social events will help you become acquainted with the services of the student recreational center, the Student Union, and more.
- Experience Tiger spirit and life as an LSU student. The LSU Spring Invitational Program is held while LSU classes are in session, allowing you to experience Tiger spirit and student life first hand.
