Housing

Spring and Summer Freshman Orientations

Unfortunately, campus residence halls will not be open for students to stay in during these Orientation sessions.

Freshman Orientation, Advising and Pre-registration (Session 7)

If you are coming from out of state and would like to move in to your residence hall the Sunday before Freshman Orientation begins, please contact Residential Life at 225-578-8663 for more information and to make arrangements.

Freshman Orientation, Advising and Pre-registration (Sessions 1-6)

The Department of Residential Life offers incoming students a chance to experience on-campus living during their freshman orientation. By getting a head start on living at LSU, freshman orientation participants are better acclimated to the LSU community.

The lodging cost of $27.50 covers one night in Acadian Hall. Please note that lodging in Acadian Hall is for students only. Depending on the session, that night may be Monday or Thursday. While staying in Acadian Hall, incoming freshman can enjoy its distinct architecture and comfortable living space, a vanity and sink area, and communal bathrooms. The lodging costs are for a double-occupancy room in which roommates are assigned. If participants want to request a specific roommate, they should indicate on their FOAP housing applications. Costs also cover bed and bath linens, a pillow, and blanket. The department does not provide telephones or alarm clocks, so participants are encouraged to bring their own essential items.

Lodging in Acadian Hall on additional nights before the sessions, either Sunday or Thursday, may be secured for an additional $27.50 a night. This cost does include linens.

Check-in for those staying Monday or Thursday night begins at 7:30 a.m. in the Acadian Hall Lobby and continues throughout the day. For those requesting to stay the additional Sunday or Thursday night, check-in begins at 2 p.m. in the Acadian Hall lobby on those days.

Check-out should be completed by 6 p.m. on Tuesday or Friday of each session. Space is not available in Acadian Hall on Friday or Saturday nights.

Parents are not permitted to stay with their students in Acadian Hall. Parents accompanying their students may wish to contact the LSU Faculty Club at 225-578-2356 or the Lod and Carole Cook Conference Centers & Hotel at LSU toll-free at 866-610-2665.

If you are interested in staying and experiencing LSU’s campus living in Acadian Hall during your freshman orientation, select the housing option when you register for the orientation program online.

If you did not sign up for a housing option when you completed your online orientation application and now would like to request housing during Orientation, please go to www.lsu.edu/housing and select the Freshman Orientation, Advising and Preregistration Housing Application option.  You must complete and mail the appropriate form and payment to the address given on the form.  This form MUST be received by Residential Life at least 7 days before your anticipated arrival to ensure space in Acadian Hall.

Space in Acadian Hall MAY be available in case of emergency.  If an instance should arise where you need housing accommodations and did not previously arrange for them, walk-ins may be taken at Acadian Hall during Orientation if space is available.  Those requiring housing will be required to pay for housing on site and MUST pay with a check or money order only.   The cost for one night in Acadian Hall is $27.50.  Cash and debit/credit cards cannot be accepted.

For more information, please call the Department of Residential Life at (225) 578-8663 or visit www.lsu.edu/housing.

Also, if you are traveling by commercial airline to our Spring Invitational Program, please be sure you have arranged for transportation to and from the airport and from your hotel to LSU and back.  The Office of Orientation cannot provide transportation for you, so please make the appropriate arrangements before you arrive!
