Introduction and Welcome
Dear Parents or Guardians,
We cordially invite you to attend the Family Orientation Program for parents and family members of freshman and transfer students entering LSU. Any member of your family or any guest concerned with the student’s educational future is invited to attend.
You have already played an important role in your student’s education. With the transition to college life for the first time or from another institution, your son or daughter will be facing new and important decisions that will affect their future success. While your role will probably change, your son or daughter will still look to you for guidance and support. We know that students make better decisions when they discuss their academic and campus life choices with their family. The goal of Family Orientation is to provide you with information you need to participate in these decisions. This program will give you an overview of student life at LSU and information on the latest academic requirements, fees, student resources, and University regulations. You need to participate in these decisions. By attending Family Orientation, you will learn how to make your student’s transition to college life successful and participate in the excitement that makes LSU such a special place.
Please choose the appropriate Session, pay attention to both session dates and fees. We recommend that you enroll in a session when your son or daughter registers for orientation. However, you may wait and register on site the day that your session begins.
We are looking forward to sharing the LSU experience with you and your family. Click here for more information on how you can become involved with Parent and Family Programs at LSU.
Sincerely,
Bonnie C. Alford, Director
