a new chapter Treasurer (replacing Sarah Pierce).
So far we have no candidates for Treasurer, and one candidate for VP: Brooks Ellwood (Geology).
Please send your nominations for these two offices (including self-nominations) to the Nominating Committee:
Larry Crumbley (chair, dcrumbl@lsu.edu) and Sarah Pierce (pierce@lsu.edu); nominations can also be made during the chapter meeting on April 19.
3. Other chapter business, from the floor.
END OF AGENDA
This meeting will start shortly after the conclusion of the annual meeting of the Louisiana State Conference (LSC) of the AAUP; the latter meeting is scheduled to run 11:00AM-2:00PM that day, in the same room as above, and includes a free lunch (paid for by the LSC) for those who reserved a plate by April 12 (we ordered a few extra lunches, so come anyway).
For the agenda of that annual LSC meeting, see www.laaaup.org.
(If the LSC annual meeting ends before 1:45, we'll start our chapter meeting as early as 1:45; if the LSC annual meeting continues all the way to 2:00, we'll start our chapter meeting at 2:00.
Either way, the chapter meeting should last only about 20 minutes.)

The LSU Chapter of the
American Association of University Professors (AAUP)
presents an AAUP Faculty and Staff Forum:
"How the Courtroom Affects University Faculty and Staff,"
featuring a talk by
Paul F. Bell, J.D., Ph.D., Attorney-at-Law.
3:10-4:30, Thursday, March 6, 2008
E134 Howe-Russell Building
All LSU faculty and staff are invited to attend.
Faculty and staff are unlikely to sue their university because they tend to
rely on persuasion to get what is due them. Nonetheless, they
occasionally need to rely on the law when persuasion is not sufficient.
An understanding of the law, then, can help the Faculty Senate, the Staff
Senate and the AAUP demand university policies that provide better
protections of employees' rights.
Co-sponsored by the LSU Faculty Senate and LSU Staff Senate.
