Originally, this feature appeared in the old Necrofile print journal, and was compiled from Bowker’s Books in Print. In the past, Tony and I allowed this feature to languish, in part due to a lack of time to compile it, but mainly because as of late, Books In Print is most disappointing in what it lists as horror (see my rant to readers for 2006 for more on this subject). When I was compiling this feature, I noticed that a good many horror novels were missing from Bowker's list. Thus, I have been forced to cull other sources, most notably the very helpful summation of horror for the year found in Ellen Datlow’s excellent Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror Series as well as the bibliography at the beginning of Stephen Jones' Best New Horror Series. So please forgive any omissions. This list is certainly not exhaustive.
