LSU has established the National Center for Security Research and Training (NCSRT) to coordinate efforts in security research and training. The University is currently a leader in providing training on anti-terrorism and counter-terrorism techniques and regularly supports projects initiated by state and federal law enforcement agencies. The National Center for Biomedical Research and Training (NCBRT) serves as leaders in the development and delivery of a wide range of training programs to prepare those responsible for the planning and response to terrorist events involving weapons of mass destruction. NCBRT serves as a member of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium, and the National Health Professions Preparedness Consortium (in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security).

Fire and Emergency Training Institute

Fire and Emergency Training Institute (FETI) created by LA Legislative Act 84 in 1963 to "equip, operate, and maintain an in-service Firemen Training Program;" financially supported through Act 32 in 1970; and designated at LSU as the agency of this state to conduct in-service training on a statewide basis through Act 528 in 1970.

Law Enforcement Online

Law Enforcement Online (LEO) a national focal point for law enforcement to electronically communicate information. Formed in 1995 through a cooperative agreement between LSU and the FBI to provide an advanced technological resource to further the state of art in law enforcement communications capabilities. LEO's mission is to provide secure communications, distance learning, and related services to the local, state, and federal law enforcement community, to facilitate and improve law enforcement education and crime prevention and detection.
