A
book series that examines the questions and issues at the heart of American
democracy
Submission Guidelines
The procedures a prospective author should follow are listed below:
The author should email
Bob Mann to pitch the concept/idea for the book
or write to:

The author submits a formal
proposal to the series editor. Typically, a proposal consists of a brief
letter introducing the author and the book concept, a resume, a set of chapter
summaries (about one page each, single-spaced); a sample chapter; a marketing
plan (a few paragraphs on who would be the audience for the book, including
its textbook potential, profile of likely interested readers, and what trade
groups, organizations, or institutions might be interested in the book).
-
Once a proposal has been
received, it is reviewed by the Media & Public Affairs book series
committee.
-
If the proposal is accepted
(see Criteria for Consideration), a contract is issued. Contracts typically
extend 12 to 18 months
-
In addition to the review
process conducted at the Manship School, a completed manuscript will undergo
review by LSU Press and its board. Upon their approval, the books go through
the normal editing procedure.
-
Final manuscripts are
subject to approval by the LSU Press board and review by anonymous outside
peer readers.
