BATON ROUGE – The Flores MBA Program’s Executive Track, or EMBA, at LSU’s E.J. Ourso College of Business now includes an additional international trip and executive coaching sessions in its curriculum.

Recently, the Flores EMBA Track changed its international curriculum to include two, one-week trips within the 17 months that students are enrolled in the program. The current EMBA class is traveling to Spain in June 2017, then to Japan in November 2017 to immerse themselves in the culture of two international business hubs.

The intent of the change is to offer students an enhanced perspective and understanding of cultural dynamics and global business environments.

“Offering an additional trip to a different region in the world provides an opportunity for a well-rounded student experience, one with rich, comparative analysis,” said Flores MBA Program Director Dana Hart. “Our goal is for students to further develop cultural and ethical awareness in an international context, but also to rethink and reframe their leadership abilities in a global economy.”

The Flores EMBA Track also offers executive coaching as an added value to students. Students meet with an executive coach on a voluntary basis for five or six sessions to discuss topics such as leadership versus management, shifting into a leadership role, and strategically building a network.

“We believe executive coaching is essential to the EMBA student experience, and these on-one-one sessions with an executive coach augment the academic experience students gain in the classroom,” commented Hart. “With access to guided self-assessments with 360-degree feedback, students can better identify areas for improvement and self-evaluation.”
