BATON ROUGE – Twenty LSU graduates were recognized during the LSU Spring Commissioning Ceremony on Thursday, May 11, in the Union Theater. Air Force Col. Jeffery F. Staha was the guest speaker for the ceremony and gave the commissioning oath.

Ten LSU graduates from the Army ROTC program and six graduates from the Air Force ROTC program were commissioned. Four LSU students, who participated in Southern University’s Navy ROTC program, were also commissioned. In addition, two graduates from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette that took part in LSU’s Army ROTC program were commissioned.

LSU ARMY ROTC:
Baton Rouge, La.
– 2nd Lt.  Matthew James McKay will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science engineering with a concentrate on in computer science and a minor in construction management from the College of Engineering. After graduating from LSU, McKay will serve on Active Duty with the 69th Air Defense Artillery at Fort Hood Army Base in Fort Hood, Texas. He received his first salute from his father, Steven McKay.

Central, La. – 2nd Lt. Brennan Fisher West will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the College of Engineering. After graduating from LSU, West will serve on active duty in the United States Army. West reports the 101st Airborne, 2nd Brigade Combat Team at Fort Campbell Army Base, Fort Campbell, Ky. West received his first salute from Sgt. First Class Daniel Rhoades

Marrero, La. – 2nd Lt. Rachael Hope Lindstrom will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in human resource education from the College of Human Sciences & Education with a minor in professional leadership development. After graduating from LSU, Lindstrom will serve in the Louisiana Army National Guard in New Orleans, La. Lindstrom reports to the 1-141st Field Artillery (Washington Artillery) in New Orleans, La. Lindstrom received her first salute from Sgt. First Class Denis Ricou.

New Orleans, La. – 2nd Lt. Todd Emanuel Dixon will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with a minor in sociology from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. After graduating from LSU, Dixon will serve in the United States Army Reserve. Dixon reports to the 33000 Detachment 2nd Strategic Intelligence Group in Fort Belvoir, Va. Dixon received his first salute from Sgt. Mathis Edgerton of the 303rd Quartermaster Company, Lake Charles, La.

Port Allen, La. – 2nd Lt. Spencer James Lewis will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in interdisciplinary studies – with minors in professional leadership development, leadership development, political science and history from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. After graduating from LSU, Lewis will serve on Active Duty. Lewis reports to Fort Polk Army Base in Fort Polk, La. Lewis received his first salute from his father, Mike Roe, former Marine Corps Corporal.  

St. Amant, La. – 2nd Lt. Zachary James Powers will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in international studies global diplomacy and a minor in professional leadership development from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. After graduating from LSU, Powers will serve in the Louisiana Army Guard. Powers received his first salute from Sgt. First Class Daniel Rhoades.

Zachary, La. – 2nd Lt. Jarrett Eden Logan will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the College of Engineering with a minor in professional leadership development. After graduating from LSU, Logan will serve in the Louisiana Army National Guard. Logan reports to the 1-244th Assault Helicopter Battalion in Hammond, La. Logan received his first salute from United States Army Sgt. Jordan Logan

Eagle River, Alaska – 2nd Lt. Wendy Lynn Martin will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in human resource education from the College of Human Sciences & Education. After graduating from LSU, Martin will serve on active duty. She will continue officer training at Fort Rucker Army Bases in Dale County, Ala. She received her first salute from United States Marine Corps (RET) William Dill.

Clio, Mich. – 2nd Lt. Jacob Daniel McConnell will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with a minor in professional leadership development and history from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. After graduating from LSU, McConnell will serve on active duty in the United States Army. McConnell reports to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team 101st Airborne Division. McConnell received his first salute from Sgt. John McConnell.

Greenwich, N.Y. – 2nd Lt. Nathaniel William Duxbury will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in construction management and a minor in business administration and technical sales from the College of Engineering. After graduating from LSU, Duxbury will serve in the Louisiana Army National Guard. Duxbury reports to the 769th in Baton Rouge, La. Duxbury received his first salute from United States Army (RET) Emerson Duxbury.

AIR FORCE ROTC:
Abbeville, La.
–  2nd Lt Kyrie Ja’Nel Collins will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology with a minor in aerospace studies from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. After graduating from LSU, Collins will serve on active duty in the United States Air Force.  Collins reports to Vandenberg Air Force Base in Vandenberg, Calif., as a missile officer. Collins received her first salute from Technical Sgt. Quintin T. Gilmore.

French Settlement, La. – 2nd Lt Stephanie Benton will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in interdisciplinary studies with minors in sociology, psychology, business administration and aerospace studies. After graduating from LSU, Benton will serve on active duty in the United States Air Force. Benton reports to Vandenberg Air Force Base in Vandenberg, Calif., as a missile officer. Benton received her first salute from Technical Sgt. Gilmore.

Lake Charles, La. – 2nd Lt Gabriel Joseph Emerson will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in human resource education with a concentration in human resource leadership development. After graduating from LSU, Emerson will serve on active duty in the United States Air Force. Emerson reports to Vance Air Force Base in Vance, Okla., for pilot training. Emerson received her first salute from Technical Sgt. Gilmore. 

New Orleans, La. –  2nd Lt Tammy Mindy Chau will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and minors in aerospace studies and sociology from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. After graduating from LSU, Chau will serve on active duty in the United States Air Force. Chau reports to V Vandenberg Air Force Base in Vandenberg, Calif., as a missile officer. Chau received her first salute from Airman First Class Thomas Landreneau. 

Prairieville, La. – 2nd Lt Blake Alec Stewart will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology with a concentration in human movement from the college of Human Sciences & Education. After graduating from LSU, Stewart will serve on active duty in the United States Air Force. Stewart reports to Hurlburt Field Florida as a special tactics officer. Stewart received his first salute from his grandfather, United States Air Force Chief Master Sergeant (RET) Harold Bolin.

Conroe, Texas –  2nd Lt Lauren Rachel Hafer will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in general business administration and minors in aerospace studies and personal investing from E. J. Ourso College of Business. After graduating from LSU, Hafer will serve on active duty in the United States Air Force. Hafer reports to pilot training at Laughlin Air Force Base in Laughlin, Texas. Hafer receives her first salute from her father, Chief Warrant Officer (RET) Benjamin Hafer.

NAVY ROTC:
Belle Chase, La. – Ensign Matthew David Mason will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. After graduating from LSU, Ensign Mason will serve in the United States Navy. Mason reports to the USS Decatur (DDG 73) in San Diego, Calif. Mason will receive his first salute from Master Chief William Mason, United States Navy.

Lafayette, La. –  Ensign Christopher John Dedo will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from the College of Engineering with minors in business administration and technical sales from the E. J. Ourso College of Business. After graduating from LSU, Dedo will serve in the United States Navy. Dedo reports to the Naval Aviation Schools in Pensacola, Fla. Dedo will receive his first salute from Seaman First Class (RET) Elmo Laborde.

North Las Vegas, Nev. – Ensign Jason Ma Xu will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the College of Engineering. After graduating from LSU, Xu will serve in the United States Navy.  Xu reports to the USS America Landing Helicopter Assault 6 in San Diego, Califa. Xu will receive his first salute from Midshipman 2nd Class Joshua Womack.

Kingwood, Texas – Ensign Wesley Andrew Norton will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and history from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. After graduating from LSU, Norton will serve in the United States Navy. Norton reports the Naval Aviation Schools in Pensacola, Fla. Norton will receive his first salute from Master Chief Damond Banks, United States Navy.

ULL Army ROTC
Crowley, La. – 2nd Lt. Marc Andre’ Thibodeaux will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with a minor in military science from the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette. After graduating from the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, Thibodeaux will serve on active duty in the United States Army. Thibodeaux reports to the 1st Air Defense Battalion, 1st Patriot Battalion, and Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Japan. Thibodeaux will receive his first salute from John Dale Latiolias.

Lafayette, La. – 2nd Lt. Braxton O’Neil Henry will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the B.I. Moody, III College of Business Administration from the University of Louisiana in Lafayette. After graduating from the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, Henry will serve on Active Duty in the United States Army. Henry will receive his first salute from Staff Sergeant Joshua Sweat.
