BATON ROUGE – Five graduates were recognized during the LSU ROTC Commissioning Ceremony on Thursday, December 15, in the Dalton J. Woods Auditorium in the Energy, Coast & Environment Building. Col. Cindy Haygood, a 1991 graduate of LSU, was the guest speaker for the ceremony and gave the commissioning oath.
Three graduates from LSU, along with two graduates from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette that took part in LSU’s Army ROTC program, were commissioned.
The following are the LSU Army ROTC graduates:
Bossier City, La. – 2nd Lt. David Andrew Carriker received a Bachelor of Science degree in human resource education from the College of Human Sciences & Education with a minor in disaster science management. After graduating from LSU and completing military training, Carriker will branch Signal Corps. Carriker received his first military salute from SPC Beau Toups, HHC2-156 Louisiana Army National Guard.
Kernersville, N.C. – 2nd Lt Brittany May Haggett received a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology with a concentration in human movement from the College of Human Sciences & Education and a minor in professional leadership development. After graduating from LSU and military training, Haggett’s first assignment is with the 756th ASMC, Louisiana Army National Guard. Haggett received her first salute from her father United States Marine Corps Sergeant (retired) Mike J. Haggett Sr.
New Market, Ala. – 2nd Lt Zachary David Oliver received a Bachelor of Science degree in construction management from the College of Engineering with minors in business administration, professional leadership development and technology systems. After graduating from LSU and completing military training, Oliver will branch Engineer. He received his first salute from United States Air Force Staff Sergeant, Stephen Oliver.
ULL Army ROTC:
Springfield, La. - 2nd Lt Shanquel Antonet McKay will receive a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in political science and a minor in psychology from the College of Liberal Arts, University of Louisiana at Lafayette. After graduating from ULL and completing military training, McKay will branch Military Intelligence. Her first duty assignment is with the 769th Engineer Battalion, Louisiana Army National Guard. McKay received her first salute from Army National Guard Sergeant First Class, Yolanda Felix.
Lafayette, La. – 2nd Lt Ariana Marie Bailey will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science from the College of Science, University of Louisiana in Lafayette. After graduating from ULL and completing military training, Bailey will branch Medical Service Corps. Her first assignment is with C CO 199th BSB St. Martinsville, La. She received her first salute from Staff Sergeant Joshua Sweat, Louisiana Army National Guard.
