LSU Recognizes Individual Leaders, Student Organizations at Love Purple Live Gold Awards

BATON ROUGE – LSU Campus Life, a department within the Office of the Dean of Students, has awarded the 2016 Love Purple Live Gold Awards to individual student leader and student organization nominees.

The 2016 Love Purple Live Gold Award recipients include:

  • Advisor of the Year: Hyojung Park, assistant professor in the Manship School of Mass Communication and advisor for ImPRint Communications, a nationally affiliated student-run public relations firm that provides pro bono services to local businesses, nonprofits and causes.
  • Agent of Change Award: Peyton Short, first-year mass communication major from Lafayette, La.
  • Emerging Leader Award: Baele Hasbrouck, first-year mass communication major from Atlanta, Ga.
  • Legacy Award: JoLena Broussard, public relations senior from New Iberia, La.
  • Unsung Hero Award: LaTerricka Smith, political science senior from Slidell, La.
  • Graduate Student of the Year: Yue Lie, graduate student in renewable natural sciences from Shanghai, China.
  • Undergraduate Student of the Year: Kaci McClure, English senior from Flower Mound, Texas.
  • Academic/Educational Program of the Year: Farm Day by Dairy Science Club led by president Morgan Richard, an animal/dairy/poultry science senior from Elton, La.
  • Advocacy Program of the Year: Louisiana Queer Conference by Spectrum led by president Courtney Murr, a natural resources ecology and management junior from Denham Springs, La.
  • Collaborative Program of the Year: Old War Skule Week by Student Government led by president Andrew Mahtook, a finance senior from Lafayette, La.
  • Multicultural/Diversity Program of the Year: Chinese New Year Night Gala by Chinese Students and Scholars Association led by president Yue Lie, a renewable natural resources graduate student from Shanghai, China.
  • Service/Volunteer Program of the Year: Service for Sight by Delta Gamma led by President Gianna Liantonio, a history senior from Kenner, La.
  • Social Program of the Year: All White Social by the Minority Women’s Movement led by president Courtney Wright, a biological sciences senior from Opelousas, La.
  • Commitment to Community Award: Dairy Science Club led by President Morgan Richard, an animal/dairy/poultry science senior from Elton, La.
  • New Student Organization of the Year: Caribbean Students Association led by President Ricardo Jagpath, a petroleum engineering senior from Baton Rouge, La.
  • Student Organization of the Year: Alpha Epsilon Delta pre-medical honor society, led by President Ashley Reeves, a biological sciences senior from Wichita Falls, Texas.

Campus Life presents the awards annually to individuals and groups who have remained on an active roster of 401 recognized student organizations at LSU. A panel of faculty and staff judges selected this year’s winners from a record number of 146 nominations.
