BATON ROUGE – The Greek Board of Directors of LSU will host its third-annual Greek
Dat, an event celebrating the fundraising efforts of the LSU Greek community, at the
LSU versus Arkansas men’s basketball game tipping off at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb.
27, at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
During halftime, the Greek Board of Directors will present a check for more than $200,000
to the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge. This money was raised through
the fundraising efforts of Greek Week, an annual event where one thousands Greek students
at LSU join together to assist Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge in an eight-day,
blitz build for homes for two local, deserving families.
The halftime show will also feature a performance by members of Zeta Tau Alpha, the
winners of the 2012 Step Up or Step Aside step show, an annual competition between
Two $500 prizes will be given to the philanthropies of the Greek chapters with the
most members in attendance at the game. Winners will be determined based on percentage
and chapter size. Attendance to be eligible for the prize will be taken at the student
entrance until 7:25 p.m.
Prior to tipoff, all members of the Greek community are invited to a private social
beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the suites of Tiger Stadium with free food, drinks and live
music by The Brasstronauts. Entrance to the event will be through Gate 4. Those attending
the social are urged to be timely, as more than 700 Greek students came out for last
year’s Greek Dat social that was held in the Lawton Room. The first 400 students will
receive a special Greek Dat event koozie.
