BATON ROUGE – The LSU Museum of Art invites the public to its first annual “Showcase the Space Soirée” on Thursday, March 21, from 5-8 p.m. at the museum, located in of the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette Street.
Few settings in Baton Rouge can offer more gracious elegance than the galleries of the LSU Museum of Art and the rooftop of the Shaw Center for the Arts. The museum’s unique venues offer breathtaking views over the Mississippi River and original works of art on the walls. This event will showcase three venue spaces, including the Bert and Sue Turner Gallery and Alfred C. Glassell Jr. Boardroom, located on the third floor; the Paula Garvey Manship floor, which houses 14 galleries of the LSU Museum of Art, on the fifth floor; and the Irene Pennington Rooftop Terrace and Sculpture Garden, located on the sixth floor, next to Tsunami restaurant.
The Shaw Center for the Arts is the first building in the United States to be completely clad in cast-glass channels. Evocative of a glass barge meandering along the Mississippi River, the building shimmers during the day and, at night, the structure becomes a glowing lantern on the levee.
Participating vendors for the event include Ambrosia Bakery; Blue Avenue Events; Brew Ha Ha!; Capital City Grill – Downtown; Chef Don Bergeron Enterprises; Chef John Folse & Co.; Complete Music; Culinary Productions; Doug Olinde LLC; Fleur du Jour; Ginger’s Party Rental; Heirloom Cuisine, Coordinating Caterer; John Gray / Michael Foster Project; Lance Hayes Florist; Margo E. Bouanchaud Inc.; Quality Music Productions Inc.; Strand’s Café; Tsunami Sushi; Warren Conerly Photography; and Weddings by Allie.
Tickets are $10 each, and can be purchased at the LSU Museum of Art Store – located on the first floor of the Shaw Center for the Arts – beginning March 1.
