BATON ROUGE – Beginning on Monday, Sept. 17, LSU Libraries Special Collections and the Hill Memorial Library building will alter its hours of operation, due to renovation work being done on the building’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.
LSU Libraries Special Collections and Hill Memorial Library will be open between Monday through Friday 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. In addition, LSU Libraries Special Collections will be open Tuesday evenings till 8 p.m. On Saturdays, the library will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and will be closed on days where there is a home football game.
Elaine Smyth, assistant dean of LSU Libraries, said the renovation is necessary because the building cannot currently provide acceptable temperature and humidity level for the university’s archives and rare books.
“The shortened hours may need to continue for the remainder of this semester, though we hope that the work will go smoothly and allow us to go back to our regular schedule soon,” Smyth said.
Updates will be posted on the LSU Libraries Special Collections website at http://lib.lsu.edu/special.Those interested can call 225-578-6544 during business hours for additional information.
