BATON ROUGE – LSU’s Students On Target will host a release party on Wednesday, Feb. 29, at 1 p.m. to announce the lineup for the 2012 Groovin’ on the Grounds concert.
Along with the announcement of artists for the concert, cake and prizes will be provided. In the case of rain, the release party will be held in the LSU Student Union’s Live Oak Lounge.
The 2012 Groovin’ on the Grounds concert will be held on Saturday, March 24, on the LSU Parade Ground. A wellness festival will begin at 5 p.m. with free giveaways, inflatables, demonstrations on health and wellness, food, fun and more. The concert will begin at 6 p.m. In the case of rain, the event will be held in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Leading up to the concert, there will be a Groovin’ rock wall set up on Thursday, March 22, on Tower Drive for anyone to participate. There will also be a “Silent Disco” event to be held on the Parade Ground the evening of Friday, March 23. The times of both events will be announced at a later date.
Students On Target is an LSU Student Government programming committee that is charged with the mission of promoting healthy lifestyle choices, such as eating right, exercising regularly and acting responsibly. This innovative organization uses the medium of music and art to spread this message. Students will be provided with multiple activities while being exposed to new and exciting music and artists. As reflected by the goals of the organization, Groovin’ on the Grounds and the preceding festival are alcohol free. The festival and concert are free and open to the public.
