Manship 2017 Summer Abroad Programs in Washington DC and Europe

Media and Politics in Europe

Media and Politics in Europe explores London, Paris, Strasbourg, Berlin and Prague in just four weeks. Manship Professor Bob Mann and Former Director of Student Media Bob Ritter lead 19 students through an exploration of print and electronic media and politics in Europe. In their two courses Comparative Media Systems and Media Ethics & Social Responsibility, students analyze the relationship between media and politics in reference to the United States and the four countries they visit. They also examine the strategies that governments, political parties, political consultants and activists use to influence the news media, as well as the role of mainstream and non-mainstream media outlets in each country. The gallery below offers a small preview of what our students have seen this summer. Click through to see our celebrity guest speaker!
