LSU Today Flagship Faculty
What was your previous position and where?Prior to coming to LSU, I was a Ph.D. student at the University of Memphis. Before obtaining my Ph.D, I worked for seven years in internal audit, in both public accounting and industry.
What brought you to LSU?Growing up in Louisiana, I always wanted to attend and graduate from LSU. Spending time here first for my bachelorís degree and later for my MBA cemented my desire to one day come back to LSU. I feel very fortunate to be here now and hope that I am able to give back to the university and assist the Department of Accounting and the LSUCIA Program, which has provided me with many excellent career opportunities.
What is your research interest? My primary interests include internal auditing, corporate governance and enterprise risk management.
What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?I hope to assist in helping students develop knowledge and skills related to risk, controls, auditing and information systems in order to enhance their future career opportunities.
What do you enjoy most about LSU?While I enjoy being a member of a university that is a key part of the community and working with other faculty members, I must admit that I enjoy most hearing from students regarding their internships, careers and graduate school opportunities.
What are your major accomplishments?I received the Institute of Internal Auditors Research Foundation, or IIARF, Esther R. Sawyer Research Award while earning an MBA at LSU and the IIARF Michael J. Barrett Doctoral Dissertation Grant while a Ph.D. student at the University of Memphis, neither of which would have been possible without becoming a first-generation college graduate.
