What was your previous position and where?

Prior to LSU, I was at the University of Houston, where I completed my doctoral work. Before Houston, I was a market research consultant for Fortune 500 firms, where I helped to shape marketing strategy, complete marketing segmentation studies and assist in new product development. These experiences helped to shape my research and enable me to bring “real life” corporate issues to our students

What brought you to LSU?

At the time when I started at LSU, the state had strategically decided to invest in academic disciplines related to information technology. I thought that this investment would provide interesting research opportunities to investigate the impact of IT on organizations.

What is your research interest?

I study the impact of information technology on organizations and individuals, specifically on why individuals choose to adopt (or reject) technology, and how organizations can leverage IT to be more productive and efficient. Under this umbrella, I investigate a number of interesting subjects, including mobile computing, social networking, cloud computing, IT-business outsourcing and the shaping of IT strategy.

What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?

During my time at LSU, I would like to develop a research tradition that has a global impact, inform the leaders of tomorrow through the classroom, mentor the academic leaders of tomorrow through our doctoral program and build cutting-edge programs, such as our online MBA program, that will challenge our students in innovative ways.

What do you enjoy most about LSU?

I enjoy working for the flagship university, which is embraced so positively by the business community in the state.

What are your major accomplishments?

I am now in the top 2 percent in the world in terms of research productivity in major academic journals; have received a lifetime achievement award for my service to my academic discipline; was named one of the top "40 Under 40" business people in Baton Rouge; am the editor-in-chief for a major publication; and have been involved in shaping the new online MBA program launching in 2013.
